PHOTOGRAPHING THE "NORTHERN lIGHTS" IS A CHALLENGE. We only had two chances to do so during our trip north. Here are some of the ones I captured on my first attempt to photograph the aurora.

The main problem is figuring out the aperature and the shuter speeds. These were taken at f3.2 and 16 seconds with an ISO (ASA) of 400. Also it was necessary to "enhance" the photos as shown by the difference between the first and second photos below. The bright spot in the upper left corner seems to be an artifact of the camera which I have not yet figured out.
